This weekend, Philly-rooted band Waxahatchee headlined two nights to packed houses at The Fillmore Philadelphia, concluding the first run of tour dates in support of their acclaimed new album Tigers Blood. (Look for a review and photos coming to our website soon.) With those stellar shows in the rearview comes the announcement this morning that Katie Crutchfield and co. are returning to the area for an intimate performance at Ardmore Music Hall on October 22nd during Philly Music Fest 2024. That “TBA” that’s sat mysteriously at the top of the festival poster since its announcement this spring? It’s them.

Waxahatchee previously performed in the festival’s second year in 2018, and in the announcement, festival founder Greg Seltzer says he’s beyond excited to welcome them back. “Katie wrote so many amazing songs while living in Philly, and despite the move to Kansas City, we’ll always consider [her] a Philadelphian.” Joining Waxahatchee on the bill is @, the left-of-center art pop outfit with roots in Baltimore and Philly who put out the imaginative album Mind Palace Music last year and followed it up with an EP this year.

Along with the Waxahatchee news, Philly Music Fest also announced the return of Inside Hustle, its music industry networking event, which takes place at REC Philly on Saturday, October 26th. RSVP to attend the free event here.

Philly Music Fest also features performances from Slaughter Beach Dog, Amos Lee, Sheer Mag, Catbite, Devon Gilfillian and more, with proceeds funding music education nonprofits in the city of Philadelphia. For tickets and more information, head to PhillyMusicFest.com.

Earlier this year, Crutchfield and the band joined NPR’s World Cafe for a rousing performance of songs from Tigers Blood as well as an interview; watch below and check out a recap of Philly Music Fest 2023 here.
