Philly’s Tierra Whack, one of the hottest up and coming rappers and singers in the music industry right now, shared a music video today for “MOOVIES,” a song from her 2024 album World Wide Whack that has truly blown away critics and fans. The album has been a major success for Whack, with enthusiastic acclaim from Rolling Stone, Variety, Allmusic and more.
The new music video is incredibly complex, artistic, and illustrative, in line with Whack’s previous visuals. It breaks down her drive and determination for love, and despite the neverending lows of failed dates, she eventually finds her soulmate where the date goes well and she can truly feel the love that she sees in movies. Whack uses the music video to demonstrate and visualize her hit song with the help of the director Alex Da Corte. She reps her hometown visually, with footage of the Philly Phanatic, Wawa, the city skyline, and other smaller details like a spin on the facade of the legendary Tower Theater. Whack enjoys inserting her home into her music in many tasteful ways, both subtle and obvious.
Tierra Whack is now working on her new music, as she has become a hot pick to collaborate with; this year she featured on a track from Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter; in the past she’s been on tracks with Alicia Keys, Tyler, the Creator, and more. With her incredibly vibrant, electric and blossoming music, the sky is the limit for this Philly artist. Watch the music video for “MOOVIES” below and read a review of World Wide Whack here.
