After a year of touring their latest album Tigers Blood, Waxahatchee – the project of singer-songwriter Katie Cruthfield and a rotating cast of collaborators, sometimes including XPN fave MJ Lenderman – has a new song this week, ahead of another busy year on the road.
“Mud” is an outtake from the Tigers Blood sessions. It’s the second new song she’s released since last year’s album dropped; she also put out “Much Ado About Nothing,” a song she played on tour, in October.
Waxahatchee’s impressive discography has caught the eye of many big artists, such as Wilco, Sheryl Crow, and Willie Nelson, and they’ll spend the year on tour with many of them. With Willie Nelson in particular, Waxahatchee will be performing at his Luck Ranch Music Festival on March 14th, where she’ll share the bill with Lucinda Williams, Bill Callahan, Futurebirds, and others.
Along with this — and shows throughout the summer — Crutchfield and her band will link up with Willie Nelson and his crew for the Outlaw Music Festival Tour, which they’ll join from September 5th to the 19th. The tour stops in Camden, New Jersey at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on September 12th. Tickets can be found at the WXPN Concert Calendar.
