I think it’s safe to say that we’ve recovered from the whirlwind week of NonComm. But with several recent guests releasing new albums this week, the glow hasn’t worn off just yet…

Centered around homemade grooves from living room dance parties, Tune-YardsBetter Dreaming is a lively and loopy set from the Oakland duo. Cautious Clay delivers a diaristic mixtape on The Hours: Morning, charting inspiration from daybreak to noontime. After collaborating with choreographer Andrea Miller for a New York City Ballet piece, Lido Pimienta presents the classical-rooted La Belleza. Philadelphia favorites Friendship take their country-rock sound to expansive new heights on Caveman Wakes Up.

After an extended medical scare, Ezra Furman returns to Chicago (and to producer Brian Deck, who helmed her earliest records) for the raw and rugged Goodbye Small Head. For Blest, his full-length debut, Jacksonville’s Yuno fuses warm bedroom beats with playful pop melodies. Sounding as strong as ever, Chapel Hill power pop vets The Mayflies USA re-emerge with Kickless Kids, their first new album in over 20 years.

Listen for spotlights on new records like these (and more) every week on the XPN Morning Show and Indie Rock Hit Parade.
