PRESS PLAY: New Albums out July 18th
Get fired up with this week’s new releases…
Like sand through the hourglass, these are the latest albums to grace your ears in 2025.
Philly favorite Alex G continues to polish his bedroom-pop sound on Headlights; his 10th album presents an idiosyncratic take on Americana. In the aftermath of a personal upheaval, Jade Bird looks to the sunny surroundings of Los Angeles and finds inner resilience on Who Wants to Talk About Love?. Lord Huron’s lore-heavy, Lynchian odyssey enters its next chapter on The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1, whose titular contraption determines the fate of anyone who dares drop in a quarter. Inspired by a residency in Greece, Laura Jane Grace invites family and new friends to contribute to Adventure Club, the fourth solo album from the Against Me! singer.
For nearly a decade, Jamie Lidell’s focus has been his acclaimed Hanging Out with Audiophiles podcast; the English-born, Nashville-based singer returns to music performance with the searching, piano-driven Places of Unknowing. On the heels of a creatively productive tour behind her previous album, Bay Area artist Madeline Kenney’s Kiss from the Balcony is a full-on collaboration with her supporting players Ben Sloan and Stephen Patota. While a proper reunion remains up in the air for elusive New Jersey combo Forth Wanderers, The Longer This Goes On is a promising and welcome return. Announced mere days before Sly Stone’s passing, The First Family: Live at the Winchester Cathedral 1967 captures the Family Stone in one of its earliest public performances.
Listen for spotlights on new records like these (and more) every week on the XPN Morning Show and Indie Rock Hit Parade.
