From artists who are particularly prolific to those who remain elusive, these new releases are the result of deep creative focus. Taking their lumps after a rough album cycle, The Black Keys emerge resilient and reinvigorated on No Rain, No Flowers. His 16th studio album in barely over a decade, Dollar a Day is the second installment in an ongoing arc from Texas troubadour Charley Crockett. Multi-disciplinary artist Ethel Cain’s second album, Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, digs deeper into the songwriter and producer’s dense lore, exploring the teenage years of a recurring character in her dark folk songs.

Simultaneously witty and incisive, Hayes Carll dissects the pratfalls and shortcomings of modern society on We’re Only Human. Inspired by her time working as a nurse during the pandemic, Australian singer Gordi’s Like Plasticine brings life to stories about confronting the unimaginable. Denton combo Teethe coalesced from the various solo projects of its four members; the group’s second album, Magic of the Sale, is an accomplished set of eclectic indie rock.
