Acadiana Music Showcase: Leyla McCalla & Louis Michot
Every month, in partnership with our friends at KRVS in Lafayette, La., World Cafe presents the Acadiana Music Showcase, which puts a spotlight on the best of Southern Louisiana’s rich and diverse musical scene.
Today, we welcome two old friends and frequent collaborators, Leyla McCalla and Louis Michot. McCalla is no stranger to our show. You might recognize her from her work with the Carolina Chocolate Drops or Our Native Daughters, or as the host of Kanaval: Haitian Rhythms & the Music of New Orleans, our documentary series from 2021.
Michot, lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning Lost Bayou Ramblers, played our inaugural Acadiana Music Showcase in September 2024.
Together, they’re serving up a dose of Franco-Creole-American folk music, with McCalla on banjo and cello and Michot on the fiddle. Enjoy!
