Jason Isbell
Where They’re From: Green Hill, AL
Who They Are: Songwriter Jason Isbell, formerly of alt-country band Drive-By Truckers, is a Grammy-award winning artist of his own rite with backing band The 400 Unit. Isbell writes charming Southern narratives of love, life’s struggles, and his commitment to sobriety accompanied by his warm acoustic guitar. 2013’s Southeastern championed the Americana genre that year, and it’s follow-up Something More Than Free transcended country music to reach even wider audiences. In 2021, Isbell released a covers album of his favorite Georgia songs as a reaction to Joe Biden – in the 2020 election – winning the state of Georgia and cinching the presidential race.
