PRESS PLAY: New Albums out October 24th

After last week’s cascade of new albums, it’s nice to take a deep breath and… listen to more new albums.

Drawing inspiration from Emmylou Harris’s landmark Wrecking Ball, Brandi Carlile teams up with Andrew Watt, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, and The National’s Aaron Dessner for the rich and rustic Returning to Myself. On Love Chant, their first collection of original material in nearly 20 years, The Lemonheads take cues from the laid-back Brazilian lifestyle of Evan Dando’s adoptive home. Lily Allen’s signature wit brings levity to the struggles she outlines on West End Girl, her first album in seven years.

Hannah Jadagu expands her sonic horizons on Describe; the second LP from the XPN Artist to Watch is a creative leap into the unknown for the New York-based singer. Arriving months after the passing of Amadou Bagayoko, Amadou & Mariam’s L’amour à la folie is a bittersweet love letter from Mariam Doumbia to her longtime partner in music and life. Collaborating with members of the boygenius production team (as well as Death Cab for Cutie’s Jason McGerr), Eliza McLamb delivers affecting anthems on Good Story.
