PRESS PLAY: New Albums out October 3rd
Give a “gourd” listen to the first new releases of October…
It may appear that the month’s first release day is a modest one, but that’s showbiz baby!
Splicing up sounds from Studio 54, Say She She’s Cut & Rewind is a psychedelic disco fantasy with vocal trio Piya, Sabrina, and Nya as the guiding lights. Upstart Los Angeles combo Rocket revives ‘90s guitar clash on their debut, R is for Rocket; the young group has already made fans of Ride, Silversun Pickups, and Sunny Day Real Estate. Reuniting for their second collaboration, Joseph Arthur and Peter Buck expand their Arthur Buck project to include journeyman members from The Minus 5 and acclaimed producer Jacknife Lee.
Starlit Alchemy is the sun-kissed fifth LP by upstate New York singer Rachael Yamagata; it’s her first album in nearly a decade and reflects both the freedom and the challenges of creative independence. Now operating with a revised (and leaner) lineup, Ava Luna’s self-titled album serves as a reintroduction and reinvention for the experimental pop band. Drawing from the vibrant traditions of Indigenous Canada as well as contemporary (North) Americana, the self-titled debut from The Hello Crows presents a fresh and distinctive voice in a familiar musical idiom.
Listen for spotlights on new records like these (and more) every week on the XPN Morning Show and Indie Rock Hit Parade.
