If you can believe it, it’s the last edition of PRESS PLAY for this year! There are already plenty of albums on our radar for early 2026, but don’t let the calendar page turn before you check out these releases…

Indie rock lifer Juliana Hatfield has spent nearly a decade alternating between single-artist tribute albums and collections of new originals; after 2023’s salute to Electric Light Orchestra, Lightning Might Strike was born out of a period of uphill personal struggles but is nonetheless lively and resilient. Nate Amos already released a standout album this year as one half of experimental duo Water from Your Eyes; on his own as This is Lorelei, he revisits his deep archive of solo material on Holo Boy.

Shifting their focus away from full-length albums for the time being, Andy Butler’s long-running neo-disco project Hercules & Love Affair deploy dancefloor-ready anthems on their latest EP, Someone Else. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd’s ninth album is given a multimedia reissue that includes early takes and live performances; it’s highlighted by a new mix of “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” that fuses the song’s parts (which bookend the original LP) into one mammoth suite.
