WXPN - The Night Before
The Night Before
Join me for my 32nd annual edition of The Night Before on XPN – a 24 hour takeover of the radio station every minute of Christmas Eve, December 24th. That’s right – Midnight to Midnight! If that wasn’t enough, I’ve created the perfect mix to lead into The Night Before – it’s The Night Before The Night Before – Monday, December 23rd starting 8pm ET, complete with a countdown until the clock strikes midnight and The Night Before on XPN begins!
Of course, after thirty plus years we’re bound to have traditions! At NOON on Christmas Eve it’s my annual broadcast of Striking Twelve – a wonderful and creative retelling of “The Little Match Girl”, a short story by Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen and performed here by GrooveLily! You can own this performance here.
Later in the evening at 7PM, I will debut the 1946 radio broadcast of Meet Me In St. Louis with Judy Garland … a perfect way to showcase the magic of radio on this most magical of nights. Also listen in for a special celebrating the iconic Phil Spector Christmas Album, hosted by our buddy Eric Schuman (3AM) as well as A Jethro Tull Christmas presented by Ian Anderson (4AM).
