Squeeze closes the loop on songs they first started writing as teens

Squeeze
Back in 1974, when Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook were in the early days of their band Squeeze, they recorded demos for an album about a fictional nightclub called “Trixies.” After being sent a copy of those demos, which they recorded when they were 19 and 16, respectively, both Difford and Tilbrook heard something special. They recognized an ambitious concept album they didn’t quite have the chops to pull off just yet.
Now, more than 50 years later, they’ve realized they do. They returned to the studio to bring Trixies to life, turning the first album Squeeze ever wrote into their latest release. Pretty cool.
Today, Tilbrook and Difford talk about the joy of rediscovering the first songs they wrote together and the delight of finally bringing them to life alongside co-producer Owen Biddle.
