One of the most personal and incisive protest songs released in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests last summer came from Nashville’s Joy Oladokun. In “Who Do I Turn To?” she sings about what it’s like to feel unsafe as a Black woman in America. We’ll hear how Joy almost didn’t release that song, and she showcases new music from her forthcoming album, in defense of my own happiness.
