John Morrison joins host Raina Douris

De La Soul opened new avenues for hip hop when they released the album Buhloone (like balloon) Mindstate 30 years ago. According to World Cafe correspondent John Morrison, it inspired artists to dig deeper – bringing more emotion, depth, and breadth to what they wrote. On the World Cafe, you can hear about why this album was so revolutionary – it is part of a back catalogue that De La Soul has only this year won the right to make widely available once again.
