Job Description
WXPN is looking for a Producer for World Cafe, a 2-hour daily music program distributed nationally by NPR.
Reporting to the World Cafe Senior Producer, the Producer will edit and produce the work of the hosts and contributors for radio and digital distribution. S/he will assist hosts and contributors in developing creative ideas, research, post-production and editing of the content. S/he will be responsible for digital buildouts for the World Cafe NPR website, produce digital-only content, and interact with various NPR Music and digital team members.
BA/BS or equivalent experience required. At least three years of outstanding audio production and editorial decision-making experience in radio or podcasting required. Must have demonstrated proficiency in writing and editorial abilities and the ability to research, develop and source stories. Must have demonstrated experience in storytelling, developing a narrative arc of an interview, and excellent understanding of the standards and practices of journalism. Must be comfortable coaching on-air talent around interview direction and be able to give independent feedback before, during and after recording sessions.
Must possess excellent technical skills & experience with software, including Pro Tools, to produce and edit sessions; Must be proficient in blogging software, including WordPress and content management systems.
Ideal candidate must have impeccable organizational skills, successful history of managing a demanding workload, and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Strong candidates should be deeply immersed in the world of music, with emphasis on the AAA format, interested, curious, and excited about the musical landscape and can bring creative ideas to the team.
