Friday: The New Pornographers at Kewsick Theatre
Hot off the release of their new album, The Former Site Of, the Canadian supergroup is on a spring tour to support the record. They stopped by WXPN a few weeks ago for a Free At Noon performance that largely centered on new songs.
Saturday: SNACKTIME at The Foundry
A SNACKTIME show is always a good time. The Philly seven piece will stop by The Foundry Saturday for a solo show to deliver their signature brand of soul, funk, punk, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. They’ve played numerous WXPN events, including Free At Noon, NON-COMM, XPoNential Festival, and They Key Studio Sessions.
Sunday: Arm’s Length at Theatre of Living Arts
Post-hardcore and emo revival outfit Arm’s Length are joining forces with mathcore act The Callous Daoboys, indie-emo rocker Harrison Gordon, and pop-punkers Super Sometimes for a show on South Street to get rid of the Sunday scaries.
Monday: The Nude Party at Underground Arts
The Nude Party recently came by WXPN to discuss their new album, Look Who’s Back, with World Cafe’s Kallao, and they played some songs live. Check out their interview and performance here. They’re heading to Underground Arts for a gig with psych and honky-tonk rockers Tobacco City on Monday.
Tuesday: John Butler at Keswick Theatre
Multi-instrumentalist and open-tuning pioneer John Butler and his band are hosting a full evening of music on the heels of the release of his sixth album, Prism, up in Glenside.
Wednesday: Stick Men at Ardmore Music Hall
The Stick Men is a progressive rock supergroup featuring Tony Levin and Markus Reuter playing 12-string extended-range guitars that can be used to play bass lines, melodies, chords, and textures, with Pat Mastelotto on drums. This one is for the real prog heads and guitar nerds out there.
Thursday: Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore at Ardmore Music Hall
The roots rock icons are teaming up for a slate of shows billed as the “Almost Acoustic Duo.” They’ll be up in the suburbs for a gig with Lenny Kaye soon. Check out their performance of “Billy the Kid and Geronmino” at World Cafe here.
