Philadelphia electro-pop artist Kate Faust just released a cover of Weezer’s “Tired of Sex” from their 1996 album Pinkerton. As fans of Weezer may know, the original track is heavy and emotional; Faust’s cover is too, but that’s where the similarities end.

Faust brings a more laid-back hip-hop beat to the table, with a heavy focus on a fat sub bass and some ambient pad work that combine to create a very chill, ambient musical atmosphere. The vocals ooze a sensuality that betrays the semantics of the vocals, but it only creates a more exciting conflict for the listener, and they only pause to allow for melancholy synth riffs that add to the overall stress the track gives.

You can listen to the track below, or go to Kate Faust’s SoundCloud for a free download of the track.
