Hop Along at Titan House | by Jackie Nevin
Watch Hop Along cover Beyonce circa 2009, pray for a Bey x Hop Along collab at Made In America
If you’ve been following Hop Along for a while, you know that frontwoman Frances Quinlan is an unironic, unapologetic fan of pop music. We’ve seen her cover La Roux at solo gigs in the past, and we know the when she talks about being excited for sharing a bill with Beyonce at Made in America, she’s actually legitimately excited.
For some Flashback Friday fun this afternoon, Hop Along dusted off a YouTube video circa 2009 of the band covering “Single Ladies” in the defunct Philly basement venue Titan House:
Shout outs to Dom Angelella on lead axe, my cousin Jackie who filmed, and the guy who danced whilst eating ramen. #meeeeemorieeees #beyonce #singleladies
Watch the video below, and keep your fingers crossed for some Bey / Quinlan crossover action when Hop Along plays Made In America next weekend. The festival sold out yesterday (woah) but last year much of it was video webcast — so hopefully that extends to whatever stage Hop Along winds up playing. The daily lineup and schedule is expected to be released next week, stay tuned.
