We’ve got a little bit of everything on our New Music Show tonight. Tune in at 8pm as we hear from a beloved soul singer, an indie-rock frontwoman who makes her solo debut, and Kentucky-born, Nashville-based songwriter who has made one of the finest country albums so far this year.

“I’m Still Here” by SHARON JONES & THE DAP KINGS

A woman who needs no introduction, but deserves all the accolades that come her way Sharon Jones boasts some new music for us. An accompaniment to a wonderful film Miss Sharon Jones!, which chronicles the soul-singer’s battle with cancer and her return to music, “I’m Still Here” is a document in song of the artist herself.

“Semaphore” by FLOCK OF DIMES

Just a few weeks ago I expressed my fandom for the Baltimore duo WYE OAK when they put out their new album Tween.  It was a collection of previously recorded, yet unreleased songs.  And right on the heels of that album, frontwoman Jenn Wasner announced that she will be releasing her solo debut under the moniker FLOCK OF DIMES.  In the first single, “Semaphore”, we hear Jenn approach a new sonic space adding pop tendencies to her already established and captivating vocals.

First Impression Artist: KELSEY WALDON

We leave no rock unturned this week on our New Music Show. Hailing from Monkey’s Eyebrow, Kentucky KELSEY WALDON is our First Impression Artist.  Her new album I’ve Got A Way is a pure country album, and one of the finest we’ve heard in a while.  An authentic voice and a strong storyteller Kelsey is a refreshing new voice and we’ll spin a couple tunes from her tonight!
