Jan 25 in Music History: The Beatles have their first #1, Little Feat releases Dixie Chicken
1958 – Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” becomes the first single to ever enter the UK pop chart at #1.
1964 – The Beatles score their first best seller in the US when “I Want To Hold Your Hand” reaches the top of the Cash Box Magazine music chart.
1970 – Australia’s first rock festival begins. The Ourimbah Rock Festival ends the next day.
1973 – Little Feat releases Dixie Chicken.
1978 – After changing their name from Warsaw (inspired by the song “Warszawa” on David Bowie’s Low album), Joy Division make their live debut when they play at Pips Disco in Manchester, England.
1978 – Bob Dylan’s Renaldo and Clara, a semi-documentary of his famous Rolling Thunder Revue tour, premieres in Los Angeles.
2011 – Daptone Records releases Charles Bradley’s debut album, No Time for Dreaming. He is 62.
