“I’m an adult now…..I listen to podcasts…..I don’t go out much….I’m stacking up my cash, cuz I got shit to doooooo…..”

This lighthearted and cheeky chorus animates West Philly MC The Bul Bey’s newest single “Alignment” with a palpable sense of purpose, optimism and personal growth. An elegant summer anthem that is lighthearted and self-assured. Over a swinging drum groove and dreamily modulating keys produced by DJ Miflyn, Bey rides the rhythm with skill and presence, switching flows and bouncing in and out of double-time patterns. The track’s Sing-songy delivery and fun spirit contrasts beautifully with Bey’s lyrical meditations on self-actualization and personal maturity.

“Alignment” was conceived in a moment of sudden inspiration while biking to his day job.  It’s a song that I wrote away from the music that was provided by Miflyn. I had rode my bike to work and as I got off I just reflected on myself and was really happy with who I was at the moment. I had meals prepped for the week, I could’ve listened to the newest album that had dropped but I chose to listen to some podcasts, I was feeling great about riding my bike and saving money. As I walked into work the words just came to me…’I’m an adult now…..'”

Bey, who released the full length Shaking Hands And Kissing Babies in 2015 is launching a series of releases entitled #SummerBey. “I had a listening party last month a and the overall response was “release something now.” I wanted my new EP to be presented a certain way, so while I prepare that, I wanted to still share some music. And summer is a special time in Philadelphia and I’d be remiss if I didn’t add something to moments we love like the lazy Sunday, or the night out with friends or the time with family. ”
