Today’s a big one for local Americana five-piece and Manayunk venue regulars, The Tisburys. This evening, they’re playing Dawson St Pub with locals The Lunar Year and Kate Dressed Up, and before that, they’ve shared a special cover of The Replacements‘ “Left Of The Dial,” which will be used as the theme song for the beloved Philly podcast of the same name. Left Of The Dial the podcast will air an interview with the band, and if all that wasn’t enough, WXPN announces that The Tisburys are next week’s Free At Noon Concert on May 20th.
Led by songwriter Tyler Asay, The Tisburys are a fun-loving group that blends indie rock and electronic music influences. The band covered the second half of Wilco’s Being There for a tribute show curated by The Key last October, and frequently collaborates other exciting local players such as Katie Hackett of The Lunar Year, Riverby, and Will Brown of XIXIX (pronounced “six, six”). Next Friday, they’re back on stage at World Cafe Live for WXPN’s Free at Noon, and they’ll play for the station once more at Wiggins Park this summer as part of the XPoNential Music Festival.
Listen to “Left Of The Dial” and more from their Soundcloud page below to hear what all the buzz is about. And purchase the tune to support women’s’ health: proceeds from “Left Of The Dial” will be donated to abortion funds in Pennsylvania. You can search for all of The Tisburys local shows using the WXPN Concerts and Events Calendar.
