They wowed us in January opening for Suki Waterhouse at Union Transfer, their NON-COMM set was even more commanding. Now we’re excited to celebrate Blondshell as our new XPN Artist to Watch for the month of September.
Sabrina Teitelbaum projects the difficulties of a quarter life crisis through her music as Blondshell. Raised in Manhattan, she moved to California to study music at USC’s Thornton School of Music, spending two years honing both her singing and songwriting skills before dropping out to focus on her solo project at the time, BAUM. BAUM saw viral success in 2019 with the pop hit “Fuckboy,” but petered out shortly after as Teitelbaum focused her attention towards 90’s tinged indie rock, starting Blondshell in 2022.
Blondshell’s self-titled debut came out in April this year to widespread acclaim, with hits like “Kiss City” and “Veronica Mars” striking a perfect balance between blazing indie rock, catchy pop, and honest singer-songwriter introspection. Blondshell has headlined a sold out show at PhilaMOCA, and returns to Philadelphia this November when XPN Welcomes her and Liz Phair to the Franklin Music Hall; details at our Concerts and Events page.
