Tune in to a mini-concert with Lowland Hum

When World Cafe last caught up with Lauren and Daniel Goans of Lowland Hum, the duo dazzled us with a “Golden Hour” performance, where the audience was blindfolded during their entire set. It was one of the coolest concert experiences we’ve seen, and it was the perfect showcase for the band’s pensive, gentle music.

The pandemic broke out not long after that show, and the wave of experiences and emotions it brought shaped Lowland Hum’s new album, From Self, With Love. The record features songs about isolation, early parenthood, grief, death and new life. During the lockdown, Daniel and Lauren had just become parents for the first time, while simultaneously caring for their musical mentor, Al Brilliant, who died in 2022.
