Philly’s Mannequin Pussy is about to kick into high gear. The four-piece rock band is readying the release of its fourth LP, I Got Heaven, which comes out March 1st via Epitaph Records. They’ve plotted a North American tour in support of it, many dates of which are already sold out, and today just announced a European leg of dates.
Along with the announcement comes the release of “Nothing Like,” the latest in an incredibly diverse run of singles from this record. We’ve heard them rage (the title track), we’ve heard them yearn (“I Don’t Know You”), and we’ve heard them sprint (“Sometimes”). This new song is something of a cathartic celebration, buoyed by a Madchester-esque beat by drummer Kaleen Redding and lyrical imagery from frontperson Missy Dabice that’s distressed as much as joyous.
In a press statement, Dabice writes “Young love is so often all consuming, dangerous, and heightened to mythological proportions – ‘Nothing Like’ sought to mix the balance of both the light feelings of new love and the absolute depths that obsession can bring you to.”
“Nothing Like” arrives with a hypnagogic animated video by AI artist and director Connor Clarke with creative directors Anthony Miralles and Mason Mercer of Slips Studios; its characters are a series of women presented various styles of early 20th century animation (think Disney’s Snow White) wrestling with grotesque surroundings and experiences as they find personal liberation in a verdant countryside.

The band plays a sold-out Free At Noon concert this Friday, February 9th — tune in on the radio at 88.5 FM or streaming live at our website — and kicks off tour April 4th at Phantom Power in Millersville, Pennsylvania, a venue they played just as the pandemic lockdown lifted in 2021. You can check out their full tour schedule, including new European dates, below — the first night of their Union Transfer doubleheader is sold out; find tickets and information on night two at the XPN Concert Calendar.
