With Record Store Day on the horizon, April’s robust release schedule shows no signs of slowing. Working with producer Andrew Watt (a regular collaborator on Eddie Vedder solo stints), Pearl Jam push their charged rock to its limits on their twelfth album, Dark Matter. Bolstered by the last-minute addition of over a dozen extra tracks, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is a whirlwind of emotions and collaborators like Post Malone and Florence + the Machine. Recorded during the same sessions as last year’s Time Will Wait for No One, Local NativesBut I’ll Wait for You is both a companion and a solidification of the LA group’s pop songcraft. A longtime keyboardist for The War on Drugs, Grace Potter, and Iron and Wine, Eliza Hardy Jones’s Pickpocket is a deeply personal solo showcase for the Philadelphia mainstay.

T Bone Burnett teamed up with Rosanne Cash, Lucius, and Weyes Blood for The Other Side, the first solo album from the acclaimed producer since 2006. Name Your Sorrow is the third full-length from Dublin’s Pillow Queens; the group cites literary luminaries like Keats and Lewis as inspiration for the songs’ visceral lyrics. A veteran of The Cramps, The Gun Club, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Kid Congo Powers returns with his first LP in nearly a decade; That Delicious Vice follows the 2022 publication of Powers’s illuminating memoir, Some New Kind of Kick. The Power of the Heart features Keith Richards, Joan Jett, Lucinda Williams, and others paying tribute to Lou Reed’s immortal work with the Velvet Underground and beyond.
