N3WYRKLA – Full Set (Recorded Live for The Key Studio Sessions)

First up is local artist N3WYRKLA (pronounced New York, LA) aka Nyla Nasir and her band. Moustapha Noumbissi – Non-Comm 2024 (Full Set)

Another local artist hitting us in the feels, Moustapha Noumbissi is one of our favorite up-and-comers to watch. Noumbissi first wowed us playing around in Philly clubs, and won the heart of XPN listeners in his Key Studio Session and Free At Noon performance. He’s back for XPoNential ’24 this September, and this NON-COMM showcase is the perfect set to familiarize yourself with his music before then.

In Concert: WXPN Black Opry Resident Denitia

Our next featured artist in the roundup found her voice in country music after cutting her teeth in Brooklyn’s indie, electronica scene. Now, she’s one of Country Music Television’s Next Woman of Country, and before then, she was a guest at XPN’s first Black Opry Residency. Follow Denitia’s exciting career with this stripped-back performance of three folksy songs from the Residency’s Finale show at World Cafe Live from March 2023.

Mississippi Blues Project: A Visit to Red’s Lounge in Clarksdale, Mississippi

While we’re lucky to have blues artists visit us on stage here in Philly, it was extra special to have the opportunity to visit players in their home clubs in this next video. Here, XPN is at Red’s Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi talking to club owner Red Paden and listening to musician Robert “Bilbo” Walker. “Not enough money in it to make a living out of it or anything,” says Paden. “We make just enough to have a good time, and most of the time, that’s all you need.” Witness the good time in this specially-produced piece from 2012.
