Who They Are: MJ Lenderman is a solo artist and cofounder of acclaimed alt-rock group Wednesday. He began his career playing drums for Indigo De Souza on several albums and released a solo album while working at an ice cream shop. In 2020, Lenderman toured with Wednesday on guitar until the COVID-19 pandemic halted things. During this time, Lenderman continued to develop his solo work. His sound transcends time, with guitar-focused music and sometimes-dissonant, always-compelling vocals that’s Neil Young-esque yet still refreshingly new.
