The modern rock five-piece The Last Dinner Party was conceived during a wine-stained evening in the London neighborhood of Brixton, and the band has gone on to be a buzzing force in the music scene, with support and enthusiasm coming from artists like Florence and the Machine and The Rolling Stones. Guided by their favourite Romantic poets and Gothic novelists, and drawing sonic inspiration from Kate Bush and David Bowie, glam rock and new wave, the band — comprised of singer Abigail, guitarists Emily and Lizzie, keyboardist Aurora and bassist Georgia — deliver haunting melodies, explosive choruses, and powerful lyrics. The band came to WXPN to record a special stripped-down set with Raina Douris for World Cafe even before their debut album was released; the spectacular Prelude to Ecstasy touched down in early 2024.
