Heartfelt honky-tonk and Opry-caliber showmanship make Old Crow Medicine Show’s OCMS XMAS a string-swept celebration. Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro shows off festive fretwork and yuletide tenderness on Tis the Season. Country crooner Melissa Carper brings western swing and Texas-sized amounts of tinsel to her original-heavy A Very Carper Christmas.
A tie-in to a televised concert modeled after The Last Waltz, Bryan Adams cavorts with Canadian friends like Barenaked Ladies and The Sheepdogs on A Great Big Holiday Jam. Mickey Guyton’s Feels Like Christmas is a cozy collection of originals and choice chestnuts from the Nashville-based singer. Soundtracking comedy veteran Michael Showalter’s Oh. What. Fun. is a stocking full of thoughtful covers by Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory, Fleet Foxes, Jeff Tweedy, and more.
